(NYSE: ORA), announced today that it has filed a universal shelf registration
statement on Form S-3 with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC").
The shelf registration statement, when declared effective by the SEC, will
replace the Company's existing shelf registration filing whose effectiveness
will expire in January 2009, and will provide Ormat Technologies the
opportunity to issue various types of securities, including common stock, debt
securities, warrants and units of Ormat Technologies, from time to time, in
one or more offerings up to a total dollar amount of $1.5 billion.

The shelf registration statement has been filed with the SEC but has not
yet become effective. These securities may not be sold, nor may offers to buy
be accepted, prior to the time that the shelf registration statement is
